12 days of DSD research…

This December we’re recapping our latest and greatest news and research from both our US and UK teams, sharing a host of DSD whitepapers and stories from the last three years.

Day 12 – Our final piece!

Our latest research published by CTI following the Berlin conference on 11th & 12th December 2019: Markus Hose joined the presenter panel to showcase our latest research, overcoming EV powertrain noise constraints without compromising efficiency.

Day 11…

Authored for CTI Shanghai in September 2019, this research presents methods to optimise future EV powertrains while protecting against uncertain global trends in technology development and commodity prices.

Day 10…

Saurabh Khape addressed SIA Powertrain in May 2019 to present a non-sequenced software approach to transmission control, enabling faster shifts & improved driver experience.

Day 9…

At EVS32 in May 2019 Principal Engineer Dr. Michael Bryant presented DSD’s system approach to the design of electric powertrains, enabling the full understanding of complex sub-system interactions and trade offs, ultimately leading to lower cost and more efficient solutions.

Day 8…

Last December we launched Infinite Control to equip suppliers and vehicle manufacturers with bespoke control systems to reach ‘ride and drive’ milestones faster with viable, production-intent software.

Day 7…

Luca Martinelli presented DSD’s latest research detailing a novel technique to improve the thermal modelling of eMotors at SIA Powertrain, Rouen in France in 2018. The paper explains how credible results for heat transfer can be obtained in just one week, by using a combination of particle-based fluid modelling and steady state Finite Element (FE) thermal modelling.

Day 6…

In May 2018 Senior Control Engineer Jason Schneider joined the speaker line-up at CTI USA to present a 48V P2 hybrid architecture with powershift capabilities utilising a low-inertia eMotor for enhanced driver experience and efficiency, enabled by system level design and advanced control systems.

Day 5…

DSD Chief Engineer George Scott presents a case study for an ultra-lightweight design for a single-speed EV transmission.

Day 4…

In 2017 DSD co-founder Alex Tylee-Birdsall joined EVS30 in Stuttgart to present DSD’s experience and learnings over the last ten years of transmission development for EVs.

Day 3…

New technologies for EVs are being continually developed, but the cost of adoption versus the performance benefits are not always easy to compare. This paper, first presented at CTI Berlin in December 2018, describes new processes to carry out this evaluation through a systems approach, for an autonomous electric vehicle

Day 2…

Matt Hole, VP for Engineering, joined the CTI 2017 speaker panel to share our latest research on transmission lubrication using smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH). The paper presents details of an optimized lubrication system, its benefit over existing systems, and details of the SPH modelling and correlation approach taken to validate it.

Day 1…

In 2017 DSD Senior Engineer Gavin Bartley joined the speaker line-up at SIA Powertrain to present methods to bring hybrid features to the significant manual transmission market.
